Note Guesser FAQ & Guide

What is the Note Guesser game?

Note Guesser is an interactive fretboard training game designed to help you memorize note locations. A random note is displayed on the fretboard, and your goal is to guess which note it is by clicking the corresponding note button below.

How do I use the audio playback feature?

Turn on the speaker toggle in the controls to hear the note played out loud whenever a new question appears or when you submit your answer. This helps build pitch recognition alongside visual fretboard memorization.

How do I select specific frets to practice?

You can toggle individual frets on or off simply by clicking the fret numbers located directly beneath the fretboard. This allows you to isolate specific fret regions, such as open positions or higher frets.

How do I enable or disable specific strings?

Open the cogwheel (settings menu) and use the string selection toggles to turn individual strings on or off. This is ideal for practicing horizontal note recognition across a single string or custom string pair.

What instrument and layout settings are in the cogwheel?

The cogwheel settings menu lets you customize your entire instrument layout. You can adjust the total number of frets and strings, change tunings, toggle left-handed mode, switch to vertical orientation, and configure a banjo drone string.

How do I submit my guess during the game?

Once a note marker appears on the fretboard, examine its string and fret position, then click the corresponding note button (e.g., A, C#, Gb) located below the fretboard to submit your answer.
